  • ai16z’s creator Eliza Labs has released a white paper for web3-centric AI agents
  • The AI agents will be able to interact with smart contracts and the blockchain
  • Eliza Labs wants to help blockchain users use the agents in crypto trading and NFT generation

Eliza Labs has released a white paper outlining its intentions to create AI agents capable of interacting with smart contracts and the web3 world. The ai16z creator disclosed that its first AI agent will be called “Eliza,” adding that it will make the “deployment of web3 applications effortless.” Eliza Labs said that users will fully control the agent, something that increases the interaction between AI and blockchain technology.

Web3 Lacks an Ideal Agentic Framework

Eliza Labs believes that developments in AI have yet to reach the web3 space despite the web3 world “lacking an ideal agentic framework” that can help reveal the power of decentralized AI.

According to the white paper, integrating AI agents with web3 technologies can enhance interactions with decentralized applications and networks. The white paper revealed that Eliza will put web3 developers first by offering familiar tools and frameworks.

The AI agent will also have a “pluggable modular design” that allows users to add “their own plugins, clients, [and] characters.” Some of the plugins supported by the agent include those dedicated to NFT generation, crypto trading, payment processing, multi-chain support, and web browsing.

Eliza Labs noted that web3 AI agents should allow their users to create new wallets, transfer or receive tokens, engage with social media platforms, and support “basic trading APIs.” It added that Eliza’s full development will be achieved “within the forthcoming years.”

Is AI Blockchain’s Savior?

Eliza Labs’ white paper comes at a time when more entities are exploring the intersection between AI and blockchain with some even viewing AI as blockchain’s savior. PancakeSwap, for example, launched an AI-powered prediction market while Starknet disclosed that it’ll use AI agents to enhance DeFi activities.

With Eliza Labs creating an easy-to-use AI agent, it’s to be seen whether web3 developers are ready to embed AI into their apps.
