- Vitalik Buterin has announced a restructuring of the Ethereum Foundation team
- The changes will see the foundation increase its support for dApp developers on the Ethereum network
- Buterin also wants to “bring in fresh talent” to the foundation’s leadership
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin is restructuring the Ethereum Foundation’s (EF) leadership to bring in new talent and actively support dApp developers. Buterin also said he wants to change the top EF team to promote the blockchain’s privacy and decentralization to make it censorship-resistant. The Ethereum co-founder has advised “people seeking a different vision” for Ethereum to create their own organizations or foundations, an indication that there may be some EF members looking to divert the blockchain’s agenda.
Ethereum Foundation to Improve Two-way Communications
In an X post, Buterin disclosed that he wants the foundation to have more people with higher technical expertise. He also noted that the changes are meant to “improve two-way communications and ties between [the] EF leadership and the ecosystem actors.”
We are indeed currently in the process of large changes to EF leadership structure, which has been ongoing for close to a year. Some of this has already been executed on and made public, and some is still in progress.
What we’re trying to achieve is primarily the following…

Buterin added that he intends to use the changes to boost the use of privacy technology and increase the blockchain’s use in payments and treasury management.
According to the Ethereum co-founder, the Ethereum Foundation wasn’t created to “execute some kind of ideological […] pivot from feminized wef soyboy mentality to bronze age mindset.”
The Ethereum co-founder also clarified that the EF is cautious not to dilute its position as a reputable neutral platform by avoiding being involved with regulators and politicians “especially in large powerful countries.” He added that the foundation isn’t an “arena for vested interests.”
Ethereum Community Embraces Changes
The blockchain community has welcomed Buterin’s changes with some noting that the previous EF leadership wasn’t ready to listen to community suggestions. Others said they’d “love to see the EF helping to support” layer 2 initiatives, even if it’s raising awareness instead of offering financial support.
I’d love to see the EF helping to support cross-L2 initiatives. Not necessarily financially, rising awareness works.
Next Billion Fellowship but for initiatives that help all L2s

With Buterin making changes to the foundation’s leadership, it’s to be seen how he intends to measure the new team’s success in achieving the set goals.
