Ethereum game “The Machine Arena” is planning to launch on PS5
The game will also be available on Steam for desktop gamers
The Machines Arena on PS5 and Steam will have limited crypto features
Web3 game “The Machines Arena” is planning to launch on PlayStation 5 and Steam but with limited crypto features due to the two platforms’ crypto policies. Some crypto and blockchain features that won’t be available on the Steam version, for example, will be the ability to earn in-game tokens and interact with NFT-based in-game skins. The game will launch on Steam on January 14 while the PS5 option is still in development, indicating that web3 projects want to attract web2 users.
“A Huge Milestone for Web3”
In an X post, The Machines Arena (TMA) disclosed that the move to bring the game to conventional players is “a huge milestone for web3,” adding that it will be the first Ronin-powered game on Steam and PS5.
THIS JUST IN
The Machines Arena is coming soon to STEAM (January 14, 2025) and PS5!
We’re making the arena wider by making it more available to players worldwide so make sure to wishlist the game on both platforms!
TMA also said that the decision to launch the game on the two platforms is part of its mission to provide a unified “cross-platform experience” targeting both traditional and web3 gamers “across PC, mobile, and console.”
The game revealed that it attracts roughly 100,000 daily users, placing it among the top 20 blockchain games according to DappRadar. Other games on this list include Age of Dino, Alliance Games, World of Dypians, and Treasure Ship Game.
Traditional Entities Also Exploring Web3 Games
TMA’s move comes as web3 projects continue courting new users in the conventional world. NFT project Pudgy Penguins, for example, has in the past availed physical toys in Walmart stores and announced plans to create a mobile game known as Pudgy Party.
Apart from web3 gaming projects courting traditional gamers, conventional brands like Puma, Nike, and Lamborghini are also exploring ways to bring their users to the blockchain gaming world.
With TMA launching on Steam and PS5, it’s to be seen whether other blockchain games will follow this route.
